You are another year older and another grey hair on the head. It is not all bad news though as some things get better with age. Take for example your car insurance. If you are over 22 and have a full license then you are probably much better off now with AXA insurance. Chances are that you now have a ‘Drivers of Other Cars’ policy extension included.
AXA covers most of our customers (aged over 22 years with a full licence or 25 years old with a full or provisional licence) while driving other people’s cars. This means you can drive someone else’s car and automatically have Third Party cover on it (without being a named driver on the owner’s car insurance), as long as you have been given permission to drive the car.
Here is an example of just how valuable the ‘Driving of Other Cars’ extension could be to you: You are heading away for the weekend with two friends. One of them offers to drive the three of you down the country. Unfortunately over the weekend this friend breaks his arm and isn’t able to drive you all back. But all is not lost – if you have the ‘Driving of Other Cars’ extension on your AXA car insurance policy you could help save the day, hop in your friend’s car and drive you all home – safe in the knowledge that you have Third Party cover.
There are some pre-conditions to getting this cover. You can only access this cover if you are not the car owner and have not hired it under a hire purchase agreement. If you look at your insurance certificate you can easily see whether you are covered or not by checking out section 5(b).
Of course, it’s important to understand some of the things the ‘Driving of Other Cars’ extension does not cover. It only applies to private passenger vehicles, and does not cover you to drive – vans, car-vans, jeep type vehicles with no seats in the back, vans adapted to carry passengers
Customers that have been with AXA for 3 or more years with comprehensive insurance will be upgraded. The 3rd party “Driving of Other Cars” extension will now be transformed into comprehensive “Driving of Other Cars” cover for free. This offer now means that when you are driving home your friend’s car after a holiday you are covered if you accidently damage their car. This insurance offer is unmatched in Ireland.
AXA car insurance Ireland provide lower insurance quotes for older drivers. Get your auto insurance from AXA today.

You’ve had a nice shopping trip, picked up a few deals. But your good mood evaporates as you return to find a small dent in the back of your car… Luckily enough you have a comprehensive car insurance to cover this lovely parting gift from a careless driver. Many of us have had a ‘little tip’ in our time, especially as learners trying to negotiate around tricky car parks. Would you leave your details if you left a scrape or a dent on someone else’s car? According to new research, as many as one in five people would not own up if they damaged a parked car…
Another cause for concern is if you are the proud owner of a beauty of a car. 20% of 3000 drivers who were questioned in a recent car insurance survey admitted that the decision on whether to own up to an accident would depend on the type of car they crashed into. It is better to have a crock of a car in this instance as only 1% of drivers would own up if the car they hit was a VW Golf GTi.
Of those who were surveyed, almost half had had their own parked car damaged, and only 15 percent of those were left details by the culprit. Two thirds said they wouldn’t leave their details if they couldn’t see any visible damage on the car they hit – probably by persuading themselves that bang they heard was nothing after all!
You may ask is there a significant difference between men and women. Who is the more honest? 61% of women would leave their details and only 56% of men would leave their details. I guess women are the more honest of the species, but it is a pity that such a high percentage of people walk away in the first place. It is a terrible thing to happen to you.
Moving away from men / women comparisons, we get to young / old comparisons. Who do you think are the most honest? Not surprisingly the worst culprits are new drivers. 25% of them would not even own up to damaging a friend’s car. 94% of over 55 drivers would own up to damaging cars as they have experienced this in the past.

Insurance can be a tricky business. All the legalese, the unreadable fine print, and questionable tactics can keep you from finding out what your options are. You’ll surely get an insurance policy even if you buy hastily but it won’t probably be the best one.
Life, auto, and homeowner’s has several different types, and insurance companies offer a wide range of policies for each type. When you look for an insurance policy, begin your quest with an understanding of how the each form of insurance operates, so you can figure out which policies will work best for your individual needs.
You may be surprised to learn that 65 percent of South Africans do not have any auto insurance at all. Considering the high risk of injury and death on South African roads, this is a shocking statistic.
Auto cover is coming in three varieties, third party is the minimum coverage and guards you if you wound other person or hurt somebody’s belongings in an auto accident. Third party fire and theft will include cover that is provided below third party and will add security for impairment caused by fire, theft or attempted theft. A complete security is also provided to protect your automobile in an accident that is your mistake.
Auto cover premiums can be expensive so compare policies and quotes. Negotiate with the insurance companies for a better rate and consider higher excesses and increased security measures to lower your premiums further.
Term life insurance is the least expensive option and provides cover for a specified amount of time or can be linked to specific debt obligations. Term life is beneficial for families that may have a large amount of debt that will be paid off by the end of the policy’s term.
Whole life insurance is permanent insurance that remains in effect as long as the premiums are up to date. The policy does not need to be renewed and the premiums remain the same throughout the life of the policy. It provides your beneficiaries a lump sum at your death regardless of when that occurs.
Universal life insurance cover is structured the same way as whole life in that it is permanent insurance with level premiums. In addition, it adds provides financial products such as a savings plan, investments and the ability to add a person to the policy. It is the most expensive life insurance option due to its flexibility.
Your life changes and it is always beneficial to check on the current status of your life insurance to make sure it is still meeting your needs.
In the past, when obtaining a mortgage loan, borrower’s were often locked in and required to purchase their insurance from the company specified by their lender. Now, thanks to the National Credit Act, consumers have freedom of choice, and can pick the coverage and provider that best meets their insurance needs. In most cases, lender’s still require that payment of insurance premiums be bundled with the mortgage payment.
When shopping for insurance, remember the old adage that the cheapest policy isn’t always the best. For example, a bicycle costs less than a car but it will not serve the same transportation needs. Hence, you need to find an affordable insurance policy that meets your particular coverage concerns.
